About …
Teresa Kinman started rug hooking in 1999 with a kit purchased from Lancaster Rugs. She learned rug hooking skills from the VHS tape that was included in the kit! She was 'hooked' right away, and has been hooking ever since. In 2014, when she ran out of wool while hooking on a rug, she drove 2 hours to the closest wool shop to get more supplies. She wished there was a shop closer to home. She decided (with the encouragement and influence of family and friends) to open a shop herself, and Woolen Heirlooms came to be! Her mission is to help supply the southern part of Indiana and the surrounding areas with rug hooking materials, classes, and open hooking time for fellowship among wool-loving friends (new and old!) Woolen Heirlooms offers a great selection of patterns created by Teresa and her friend/ folk artist, Becky Geis. Woolen Heirlooms' patterns have something for everyone's taste and style, and they always have new patterns in the works, too!
Teresa teaches in her studio, hosts open hooks 3 nights a week plus offers Saturday hours, and also attends/vends at events when her schedule allows. She currently still works full-time at Metronet as the SR Provisioner, designing business orders for their Business Team.
She lives in Boonville, IN with husband of 45 years, Jay, on a small farmstead with their horses and dog. She and Jay treasure their close-knit family and love spending time with them: their son Jason, daughter-in-love Staci, and their daughter Katie, son-in-love Jake. They adore being Grandmom and Grandad to their grandsons, Wyatt, Emory and LM (her initials) granddaughter arriving via adoption soon.
Teresa has now retired from her full-time job to spend more time with family and devote more time to the studio. Woolen Heirlooms started as a dream and has grown into fruition with many blessings along the way. Teresa always tells her customers, "Happy hooking!" She hopes to continue to grow Woolen Heirlooms and serve many happy rug hookers well into the future!
